Wishing you all the best for the coming year, and that what you desire manifests for you in 2026.
In 2025, the year concluded with a mixture of frustration for some and a sense of empowerment for others within the spiritual community. Notably, there was an increase in attendance at services in Busselton and Capel, where newcomers sought connection with like-minded individuals and aimed to engage with the community.
However, the year also marked a significant loss with the closure of the Australind church, known as the Lighthouse, which had been overseen by Kathleen Kelsey. This was a poignant moment as the church had a long-standing history and had served the Australind area for many years. The community also mourned the passing of Olive Wraight, Kathleen's mother, who had dedicated her life to teaching and supporting many individuals throughout her years of service.
Additionally, 2025 witnessed the closure of both the Kingsley and Cannington churches. This decline reflects a broader trend, as many centres have closed due to dwindling congregations compared to earlier years, when churches were packed with those seeking guidance. The lack of mediums available to lead services has also contributed to this issue; once individuals gain an understanding of mediumship, many choose to pursue their paths independently, sometimes forgetting the vital role these centres play in connecting people to their loved ones in the spirit world. Such connections remain crucial for many individuals within the community.
Throughout the year, we were able to donate, thanks to your generosity, a thousand dollars to the Busselton women's shelter for domestic violence, as this is becoming increasingly common over the years, where women and children need to seek shelter, and Christmas time is no exception. The Capel also donated money to help with school expenses for a child who was in need. Without your continuing support, we would not be able to contribute to those in need, so a huge thank you to everyone for their generosity who attend the services each month.
Our Christmas service was characterized by joy and meaningful connections as we welcomed our students, Joanne, Nicola, and Linda. Each of them demonstrated a remarkable connection to the spirit world, facilitating communication with loved ones. Joanne delivered a heartfelt address on the significance of Christmas, conveying deep compassion and love that resonated with all attendees during the morning service.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all individuals who contributed presents placed under the tree, which were shared among those present. Additionally, we appreciate the gathering that took place after the service for tea and conversation. Special recognition is warranted for those who travelled from Perth; your commitment to making the journey to the southwest is greatly valued.
Coming events:
We are excited to announce upcoming workshops designed for individuals interested in understanding the intricacies of mediumship. These workshops emphasize the importance of dedication, time, patience, and continuous learning essential for honing one's skills in this field.
On January 9th, 2026, we will host a mediumship evening fundraiser featuring Matthew Mold from England's Spiritualists' National Union, along with Minister Beverley Bryant and Minister Christine Gregson Sharp. This event will take place at the Masonic Lodge, Wanliss Street, Rockingham, starting at 7 PM. It promises to be an enlightening experience not to be missed.
Additionally, we are pleased to offer our Bali retreat again this year, now at a new beachfront venue in Sanur, Bali.
